07H00 at Tonteldoos Old Post Office (next to festival grounds) on race day.
- The 17km Tonteldoos Cosmos Crusade - A fairly challenging route which rewards you with aerial views over the area.
The route starts with 600m along the district road before turning off into local farmlands where it finds its way to a sparkling stream which it meanders along, requiring some rock hopping and dips through a wooded area before emerging on some grassy plains dotted with aloes. The route turns onto a rugged district road that carries the runner deeper into the foot of the mountainous part of Tonteldoos where two technical rocky descents and a short sharp incline lie in wait. At the 7km mark, runners begin their ascent up a valley where they will climb almost 200m over the next 3km to the highest point on the route at 1862m above sea level. Coming down off the mountain, the town of Tonteldoos and the festival grounds will come into view in the distance as runners negotiate a flowing section of single track. At the bottom the route flattens as it winds through more grassland and farms, past picturesque rock formations, streams and dams, around the back of the local pub and out onto another district road for the final sprint to the finish at the festival. Total elevation gain for this route is 289m.
- The 10km Tonteldoos Cosmos Canter - A flatter and faster shorter route.
The route starts with 600m along the district road before turning off into local farmlands where it finds its way to a sparkling stream which it meanders along, requiring some rock hopping and dips through a wooded area before emerging on some grassy plains dotted with aloes. A rugged district road leads the runners alongside the flowering cosmos to cross a river before entering a purpose built trail that winds through more grassland and farms, past picturesque rock formations, streams and dams, around the back of the local pub and out onto another district road for the final sprint to the finish at the festival. Total elevation gain for this route is 95m.
- The 6km Tonteldoos Cosmos Cruise - A fairly concise route that can also be walked by those who are in holiday mode and dont feel like running.

| Route information | From Dullstroom, go out on the Dunkeld road, past Sakhelwe (informal settlement) and past Dunkeld and continue straight on that road until you reach Tonteldoos. If there is a queue of cars, trail runners get right of way and may pass around the queue. |
