The reserve covers 2 500 hectares of dense coastal dune forest, including thickets of milkwood, yellowwood and candlewood trees. Further inland, the fynbos is characterised by erica and restio species. The Cape Clawless Otter is one of the many hiking trails to explore in the Goukamma Reserve.

“Kaaimans Grotto”, in the past was a very popular restaurant only reachable via train, now a place of eccentric artwork and pilgrimage run by Clifford and friends who love to show you around. The cave itself is not supplied with electricity, but equipped with fresh water, toilet facilities, cooking facilities and a wooden deck with unbeatable views. The cave also offers accommodation for up to 14 people – for the courageous ones. Leave a small contribution behind for using their deck, it is much appreciated!

We then proceed to Leentjiesklip where the guide will share some history and tell you more about where it derived it's name. Moving further, we stop at Peron at the Wilderness station where you could obtain an optional coffee and something sweet, before we return the same way, back to Victoria Bay.

The Map of Africa is a spectacular scene of mountains and forests. The Wilderness area is known for it’s vast number of rivers, lagoons and natural lakes, and here you get a clear view of the Kaaimans River Valley. It is amazing how the course of the Kaaimans River has the shape of the African continent. What a beautiful sight!

High up in the hills of Wilderness, along the famed Garden Route, lies the Map of Africa. A spectacular viewpoint offering a unique sight - quite literally a Map of Africa. Over the years, as the Kaaimans River has flown through the lush landscape it has created a distinct shape of the outline of Africa, and from a certain viewpoint, you can clearly see this mesmerising wonder. Amidst the trees and thick greenery, this tranquil and spectacular stop is the perfect Insta-worthy moment and is sure to bring you real close to Mother Earth. You'll also be able to admire the sweeping views over Wilderness and the paragliders flying overhead as the launch site is nearby. A beauty to behold.
