Schedule/Program
19 June - Day 1
Fly to Reunion with Air Austral on Air Mauritius (own cost)
Day 2 - 20 June
Arrive at 6am in Reunion on the 20th June
Transfer to the start of the hike at Salazie Cirque
9:00 Start the hike, and have lunch along the way.
Arrive at the overnight Marla Gite, relax, and enjoy the local food
Day 3:
Hike after breakfast towards Cilaos, have lunch along the way.
Arrive at the overnight Cilaos, stay at a hotel, relax, and enjoy the local food.
Day 4:
Enjoy the town of Cilaos. Hike late afternoon to our overnight in a Refugee close to the top of Piton des Neiges, the highest Mountain peak in the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the sunset close to the summit of Piton des Neiges.
Day 5:
Start to hike in dark, before sunrise, to Piton des Neiges, to see the sunrise over the ocean, walk down after the sunrise, through the Bebour forest, the Plaine des Cafres forest to Bourg Marat. Get a transfer to the Volcano Gite where we will overnight
Day 6:
After breakfast hike to the active Volcano, Piton de la Fornaise. Discover the Fouque enclosure and its recent lava flows.
After the hike, we will get a transfer to our hotel where we will stay for 2 nights in St Gilles.
19:00 Dinner at your own cost
Day 7:
8:00 Breakfast (included)
Free day on the St Gilles lagoon.
Open day to do something else at your own cost or just relax on the beach.
Lunch and dinner for your own account
Day 8:
Get a transfer back to the St Denis airport.
20:20 Fly back to SA
