The Lomond Off-Road Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, 15 December 2024, at the breathtaking Lomond Wine Estate in Gansbaai, is a centrepiece event of the Lomond Adventure Weekend hosted by ADVENTURES.AFRICA. Known for its rugged terrain and spectacular vistas, this unique triathlon invites both seasoned athletes and enthusiastic newcomers to test their limits in an exhilarating off-road setting.
Participants will start with a swim in the estate’s pristine freshwater dam, followed by a challenging mountain bike course that weaves through diverse fynbos landscapes and rugged vineyards, offering stunning views of the surrounding Overberg region. The race concludes with a trail run across the scenic estate, combining challenging inclines and natural obstacles with the beauty of the South African countryside.
The event is part of a weekend full of outdoor activities, designed to immerse athletes and adventure seekers in nature while delivering a top-tier athletic experience. Full Distance Triathlon: (Age 18 and up)
- Swim: 1000m in the estate's freshwater dam
- Bike: 28km mountain bike ride across fynbos trails and vineyard paths
- Run: 12km off-road trail run through scenic vineyards and hilly terrain
Sprint Distance Triathlon: (Age 16 and up)
- Swim: 500m in the freshwater dam
- Bike: 16km mountain biking course through rugged vineyard trails
- Run: 5km trail run over diverse and challenging terrain
Super Sprint Distance Triathlon: (Age 12 and up)
- Swim: 200m swim in the freshwater dam
- Bike: 6km mountain bike ride
- Run: 2km trail run

| Route information | GPS: 34°33’58.8″S 19°28’58.4″EDrive to Gansbaai and continue through the town towards Pearly Beach/Uilkraalsmond. This is the Main Road or R43. You will pass the Great White Junction Shopping Centre with the Superspar on your right hand side. As you leave Gansbaai on your way to Pearly Beach, turn left at the Elim/Bredasdorp sign (Johnny Rockets pub will be on your left). There is a Lomond sign before this turnoff. Stay on this road for 7.8km then turn left at the Lomond flag onto the dirt road for 950m. Lomond Wine Estate tasting room will be on your right-hand side. |
