The Bikes2Blossoms powered by Peregrine and Trail's End takes place in the famous Elgin Grabouw valley that is known for its orchards, vineyards and undulating countryside. You are in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom and October marks the beginning of blossom season in the Elgin Grabouw valley where the apple and pear orchards show off their colours.

The first Bikes2Blossoms MTB race (previously called the Apple Blossom MTB ride) kicked off in 1999 and this year we celebrate the 24th edition of the event. This event would not be possible without the overwhelming support of the local community. 

Join us for an exciting day out on the world-class #ElginValleyTrails  in association with Trail’s End Bike Hotel and Peregrine Farmstall. Use it as training for your Wines2Whales in early November or bring your camera and be blown away by the views and fun trails.

The Elgin Valley Trails which includes a combination of the exhilarating single trails on Oak Valley and the Grabouw Forest Trails.

Venue

Our hosts are the amazing Elgin Grabouw Country Club, Peregrine Farmstall and Trail's End.

The Elgin Grabouw Country Club boasts breathtaking and spectacular views of the surrounding Hottentots Holland, Nuweberg and Groenland mountains. Combined with the waterfront ambiance of the Eikenhof dam and the flourishing fynbos blanketing the mountain slopes, this venue will leave you with an overwhelming sense of tranquility and enchantment.

The drive from Cape Town or Worcester takes approximately 60 minutes whilst the trip from Somerset West, Gordon’s Bay and Hermanus will take approximately 35 minutes.

Routes:

Long Route: 47km MTB – 1207m elevation

A combination of the Elgin Valley and Grabouw Forest Trails and an exhilarating finish on Oak Valley single tracks. This is ideal for fit riders with intermediate technical skills due to the elevation. The average rider will take 4 hours to complete.

Medium Route: 25km MTB – 640m elevation

The best of The Elgin Valley Trails, finishing off with brand-new single track addition. This is ideal for the average rider looking for some fun on the trails. This is not for beginners and will take the average rider 2 hours to complete.

Short Route: 12km MTB – 260m elevation

Enjoy a fun-filled single track excursion around the Eikenhof dam starting and finishing at the famous Elgin Grabouw Sports Club – flowing and fast! For the first timers, this will be a great experience on parts of the renowned #Wines2Whales Stage Race. This is not for kids under the age of 8 years.

As you near the finish, you will hear the welcome commentary from our famous South Africa announcer and MC Gerald de Kock.

8:00 - 47km MTB

8:45 - 25k MTB

9:30 - 12km MTB

Race briefing will be 10 minutes before each start time. Please be sure to be there to hear about the routes!!

E-Bikes

Depending on the number of E-Bike entries, we will use our discretion as to whether E-Bikes will start 10 mins before the start of each distance or together.

Prize Giving:

Prize giving and podium presentation will take place once all categories have finished.

In addition to podium prizes, we keep the best prizes for the lucky draw boasting a prize purse of R40 000! 

Please note, you have to be at prize giving to collect your podium prize or lucky draw prize. If you are not at prize giving you forfeit your prize.

Timing:

The event will be timed using timing tags. It is the responsibility of each athlete to tag properly.
