It has taken longer than expected to get all the permissions and logistical plans in place to be able to offer 100 Solo Entries into the The Repeat weekend of the Trans Baviaans 24hr MTB Marathan. After 20 years of the Trans Baviaans taking place every August in the traditional team format of 2, 3 or 4, we are delighted to offer this chance of riding through the magical Baviaanskloof Solo. There are a few limiting factors to this new race category.
Details of the SOLO Entry:
It will only be available to Riders that own a Trans Baviaans Shield, so if you have not done 5 or more races you are not eligible to race in this category. The reason for this is simple. EXPERIENCE.
This will only be available in The Repeat weekend of the two Trans Baviaans races as the main racing category will always remain in Team format in The Race weekend.
All Solo riders will be equipped with a Satellite Tracker and the cost of this tracker will form part of the Solo entry fee. This is an critical element to the safety measures of a solo rider. It is imperative that Solo riders adhere to the minimal required compulsory gear for the event as well.
Solo Riders will start in the main starting batch at 10:00 on The Repeat weekend's Saturday. They will be recognized in the results as a seperate category and on the podium.
Each Solo rider will still have access the the 3 Checkpoint boxes at CP 2, 3 and 4.
