COME CAMP & RIDE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL 'UNDISCOVERED' RACE IN SA!

The race takes place in perhaps the most beautiful part of the Karoo, starting from the small town of Murraysburg, a gem of a Karoo 'Dorp' off of the main routes, like a treasure to be discovered for those who love the undisturbed landscapes of the South African interior.

Come and camp for the weekend and make it a truly memorable getaway adventure.

As you finish the race you will be welcomed to true Karoo festivities as the church hosts its annual 'Kerk Bazaar' at the Race Village. Lift your feet and relax as you feast on ice cold beer and some true Karoo Food (Potjie! Potjie! Potjie!).

The town's Festival Grounds will serve as your base for the whole weekend, as registration, camping, race start and festivities all take place a mere 100m from your tent!

ROUTE INFO:

Our incredible 110km route loops into the Karoo wilderness along back roads, farm roads, sheep trails and sections of trail (along with a small 5km section of district tarred road), you are sure to discover an area that you've never seen before!

From town the route heads out towards Graaff Reinet before turning onto the district dirt road, which will lead you into one of the most amazing areas of the Karoo and South Africa in general. The Sneeuberg Mountain Range will wrap around your journey on your right hand side as you pass natural dams, farmlands and natural tree-lined rivers and streams. The more rain there is in the summer, the higher the chance of riders getting their feet wet!

As riders return back to town, they will pass over the Graaff Reinet main route before passing onto a series of beautiful farms lining the flood plain along ancient cliffs and small canyons before the valley opens up before you towards Murraysburg and the race village.

Riding more than 100km is never easy and you should definitely not be fooled by the sub-1200m of climbing - it gets technical and rocky in sections, but the beauty is very rewarding. In 2022 seriously wet weather made this one of the toughest MTB races in SA.

The 60km and 30km routes are for those riders who are still a bit shy for longer periods in the saddle, but still want to experience this magical area. Heading out of town in the direction of Graaff Reinet and then turning off on the district dirt road to edge along the farms that span the distance towards the Sneeuberg Mountain Range and back.

The 60km is also technical in sections and will test your stamina if this is your first time riding over 50km, but the surroundings are worth it!

The 30km is an out and back route for entry level riders and kids, we'd love to see you there!
