The Seal Point Estates Coastal Run & Walk is part of the 18th annual St Francis Sport Summer Series between 15 December and 3 January 2025 in St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis.

The 21km run/walk starts at 8h at the Sunset Rock parking area, Cape St Francis.  Number collection is from 7h and race briefing at 7h45.  It ends in Oyster Bay at the Oyster Kaya, where boerie rolls and drinks will be for sale (turn right at the 1st road in Oyster Bay and continue to the Lodge).  No dogs are allowed.  Runners will be timed, and walkers must be at Thysbaai by 10h30 (15km), and will then be allowed to continue to Oyster Bay at their own pace.

We are extremely grateful that Seal Point Estates, Mostertshoek POA and the RebelsRus Nature Reserve committees gave us special permission to run this event as part of the St Francis Sport Summer Series.  You will cross sensitive areas and utmost care must be taken to leave it the way you found it.  No toilet paper, wet wipes, fruit peels, cigarette butts or other material may be left behind, to ensure future events through these properties.

Rebelsrus Private Nature Reserve is a Protected Area of approximately 400ha, currently recognized as a Nature Reserve in terms of the NEM: Protected Areas Act (No. 57 of 2003). It contains one of the best-preserved examples of a ‘Headland Bypass Dune-field Ecosystem’, which is a very dynamic ecological system with a diverse range of habitat types. It falls within the Cape Floral Region and is located within the distribution range of a number of threatened, rare, and endemic species. The reserve is recognized as a ‘Critical Biodiversity Area’ in both the Eastern Cape Biodiversity Conservation Plan and the Garden Route Initiative Biodiversity Sector Plan. Archaeologically, its dune-fields contain a rich heritage of ancient Khoisan relics such as shell middens, stone-age artefacts and locally extinct animal remains that add tremendously to the overall conservation value of the area.

Although approximately 40% of the reserve land surface area is owned by Eskom, reserve management is supported by a consortium of private landowners through a formally constituted landowners association. Rebelsrus is at the core of most of the environmental protection efforts in the region. Management policies of the association secure and protect both the marine and terrestrial environments from exploitation at close to pristine levels. Access is therefore controlled.
