The Fish Hoek Mile Returns!
One of the False Bay's original and most cherished swims, The Fish Hoek Mile, presented by Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club, returns after a long absence on the Open Water Swimming calendar. Last held in the early 2000s the Fish Hoek Mile is back and with a new Spring date. The new Fish Hoek Mile swim returns to serve as a fundraiser for The Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club and to re-eastablish The Fish Hoek Mile as THE BIGGEST SWIM IN FALSE BAY!
Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club has a home grown and proud history of surf lifesaving having been long been ranked as one of the best Surf Lifesaving clubs in South Africa! The club proudly serves the local Fish Hoek community through their volunteer based Lifeguard programme during the Lifesaving Season (November to April) as well as having a very active Nipper programme with over 300 children, aged between 4 and 14 years old, learning the basics of lifesaving, sea skills and beach safety, every week throughout the summer.
NOTE: Swimmers Under 12 may enter ONLY IF they have a Lifesaving South Africa Level 2 Nipper (Under 11 and Under 12)
The swim itself will follow the original swim route starting from Clovelly Beach and finishing on the beach in front of FIsh Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club. Swimmers will walk down the beach from Fish Hoek to the start of the race at Clovelly. Swimmers are encouraged to bring along a warm top and/or blanket on the day that can be used on the way to the start and thereafter donated at the drop off point at Clovelly Beach. All clothing and blankets collected at the The Fish Hoek Mile will be donated to local charities in the surrounding communities.
With special thanks to The Fish Hoek Mile sponsors. Ocean Freedom, Maurten, Mocke Paddling, Mango Reign, Button Wear and Visible
