FOREIGN ATHLETES
All foreign athletes must comply with WA (World Athletics) rule 142 and 4.2.
Foreign athletes must be able to produce a letter from their respective federation permitting them to participate on race day.
42.2km Emalahleni City Marathon.
This event has been approved as a qualifier for Comrades 2023.
Athletes for 42.2 km must be 20 years or older on the day of the race.
Proof of age (ID) to be produced upon request on day of race.
All athletes will participate at their own risk.
The Emalahleni City Marathon will be hosted under any required COVID-19 or other pandemic
compliance procedures required on race day, to ensure that every person can enjoy a safe event.
The 42 km Marathon will be TWO LAP race with the START and FINISH at the WITBANK HIGH SCHOOL Sports Fields.
The race start will see runners setting off at 06h00.
with a Gun Start for any position and prize money.
This race will be a qualifier towards Comrades 2023 but the qualifier window dates have not yet been set and will only be set after this years race!
All qualifying races must be ASA technically compliant and meet the Comrades Marathon qualifying criteria.
You must submit your provincially approved club name, license number and qualifying race details when you apply for registration once entries for Comrades 2023 open.
This race is being run as Gun Start, as the race is timed by a reputable timing company using an electronic timing system.

Athletes for 21.1km must be 16 years or older on the day of the race.

The Emalahleni City FUN-RUN - will be hosted under any required COVID-19 or other pandemic compliance
procedures required on race day, to ensure that every person can enjoy a safe event.
The race start will see runners setting off with a GUN START at 06h30.
The Emalahleni City FUN-RUN will NOT be a timed race and
will START and FINISH at the WITBANK HIGH SCHOOL Sports Fields.:

Prize money will be verified by Race Referees via the Protime electronic timing system, based on Gun to Finish Mat time.
Prize money will be deposited into category winners bank accounts.

The athlete grants their permission (in terms of Section 51 of the Electronic Communications Transactions Act 25 of 2002) to Emalahleni City Marathon Event and associated organizers to use their name, race information and photographs, video tapes, broadcasts and telecasts in which they may appear, free of charge.
The Emalahleni City Marathon is compliant with The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and is committed to storing, using and processing participant data in a manner compliant with the guidelines prescribed by POPIA.
The athlete accepts that their personal information will remain confidential and hereby consent to same being shared with the parties involved in the organisation of the event for purposes of results, medical care and / or promotion of activities related to the event.

LIVE RACES.
The races will be run according to the rules of AMPU, ASA and WA (IAAF). No seconding will be allowed.
All participants must adhere to any COVID regulations in place on race day.
Athletes, entering for this event, and who use any medication to treat an illness or condition which falls under the Prohibited List, should complete a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) form before entering for the event and obtain authorization from SAIDS to take the needed medicine or method.
Registered athletes must wear full club colours. You do not need to be a member of a registered club, any individual can enter and run as an unlicensed athlete.
You will however need to purchase a temporary license. Temporary numbers must be worn on the back of the vest.
Licensed athletes license-numbers must be worn on the front and back of the vest. Official Race numbers must be worn on the front of the vest, below the top part of ASA.
Age category ID tags must be worn (back and front) by athletes competing for a category prize AND must be fixed on the vest (on all 4 corners).
Walkers must have a fixed "W" on the vest to qualify for any prizes.
Entry Includes : Electronic Tag on Race Number Bib, Bunch of 4 pins.
NO REFUND POLICY
Entry fees will not be refunded, returned, cancelled or exchanged on account of the weather, any pandemic cancellations
or any unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the event organizers.
