Bushveld Bundu Bash

Location: Laerskool Van Wykskraal, Makoppa

Come and join us for a fun filled day in the Thabazimbi bushveld. The trail is adaptable for anyone's abilities whether you want to show us your racing skills or have a fun ride with your friends and family. This event has been created to support the school community and is not only for mountain bikers but also for trail runners where you can choose between a 5 Km or 10 Km run/walk. All the routes will go through gravel roads where you will be riding/running in the bushveld.

Important Information: 

- NO HELMET NO RIDE

- Registration and late on the day entries will take place on the day of the event at the venue from 06:00 am Sharp. Please note that there will be a R30 surcharge fee for all on the day late entries. (Credit Card, Cash, Zapper, Snapscan available) 

- Prize Giving 13:00 - (Loads of prizes to be won!)

Route Description: 

65 Km MTB

Escape the city traffic and come and  enjoy our traffic free routes!

Surrounded by national parks and nature reserves close to the Botswana Border lies the school of Laerskool van Wykskraal. This is where the event will be hosted and where the start/finish will take place. If you are looking for a bit of a challenge or to explore the Thabazimbi bushveld, then this distance is for you. The 65 km will mostly consist of gravel road. Somewhere on the route you will encounter a koppie with a bit of a climb. But luckily it will be worth it once you get to the top!

You will also be riding alongside grasslands as well as a natural dams. There will also be water-points alongside the route where you can stop and refuel, and on your way, you might spot some of South Africa’s most amazing wildlife including Zebra’s, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Steenbokkie’s, Warthog, Sable, Kudu, Buffalo etc. Also be on the lookout for some of the most amazing bird species that you might encounter.

40 & 20 Km MTB

You will also have the full experience of the amazing scenery and wildlife that South Africa has to offer. Here the 40 & 20 km will also mostly consist of gravel road and at some point encounter the koppie (40km), but will also have the advantages of riding alongside the natural dams and bird species where South African Fish Eagles as well as other species have been spotted. If you are also looking for a bit of a challenge but don’t want to enter the full 65 km, then the 40 km distance is perfect for you. If you are looking for a family outing or for the whole family to come out and explore Thabazimbi’s bushveld and scenery, then the 20 km is for you.

5 Km 

The 5 km will be a fun ride, where you can enter on the morning of the event. This ride is for everyone who wants to take it easy and wants to enjoy the day out. Children can come and ride if the parents are doing the 65/40 or 20 km or parents can ride with their children.

10 & 5 Km Trail Run

If you are more of a trail runner then you don’t have to feel left out, we also have the perfect event for you. Come join us for a fun day out and choose between a 5 km or 10 km trail run. We encourage everyone to run/walk with us and witness some special scenery and amazing routes.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

We had to make the difficult decision of implementing a new system where you can buy your very own permanent MTB timing race board. 

The wristband you can buy once and use multiple times for all BoutTime mountain biking events and it is assigned to your name, meaning that you register for the race/run online with no need to collect your number from the registration tables again. You sign up online and show up at the start line for the race. (Your new permanent MTB race board does have a lifetime warrantee).

Your brand new MTB race board will cost you R80.

This is in line with other time keeping companies, it will shorten the registration queues for repeated runners, making it more convenient.

- Permanent time board not included in your entry. Buy a permanent time board at an additional cost of R 80

- Or alternatively you can rent a temporary race board at an additional cost of R20
