Founded in 2015 South Africa’s most loved 12km road run, the Absa CAPE TOWN 12K CITYRUN has established itself as a ‘proudly South African, proudly Cape Town’ must do mass participation road running event that celebrates everything Cape Town - the vibe, the city and the people!
The 12km point to point route is fast and flat, highlights iconic landmarks and boasts magnificent views while featuring lively performances from some of Cape Town’s leading performing arts groups.
The morning starts with a convenient bus trip from Cape Town’s CBD to the start in Milnerton. The route follows the coastline running in the direction of the majestic table mountain before finishing in the heart of Cape Town’s cosmopolitan Long Street.
All entrants, irrespective of their running pedigree, are invited to experience the alluring ambiance of the Mother City!

FREE Rapid Antigen tests for all Absa RUN YOUR CITY entrants in 2021
The organisers of South Africa’s premium Road Running series, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY (RYC) Series, are excited to announce that they have partnered with Dis-Chem Pharmacies.
As part of the 2021 Absa CAPE TOWN 12K CITYRUN COVID protocols all entrants are required to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test at Race Pack Collection, which will be administered on a first come first served basis. The Rapid Antigen Test must prove a negative result before an entrant will be permitted to collect their race pack and take part in the event.
In the event that an entrant shows a negative Rapid Antigen Test but is displaying Covid-19 symptoms such as a fever or feeling unwell, the entrant will be required to undergo a PCR Test, which must prove a negative result, before they are allowed to register. This must be undertaken separately by the entrant, at their own cost.
