The Goat Father says, come and spread somegoat –will, sorry I meanGood will, and enter the La Capra – Goats do Roam Nature to Nurture, charity walk, hike or  run.

Female goats are natural nurturers. They are patient, maternal and often foster other young animals, including lamb, calves, and foals. They are curious and friendly creatures constantly looking for a little fun. When you look into a goat’s animated face, you will feel the endorphins release.

The event will take place on all five Saturdays of October. There will be a marked 10Km, 8km and 5Km trail run route as well as a 5km route for mommy’s with pram or for the disabled.

Enter on Entry Ninja, your entire R150-00 entry fee/donation will go towards Drakenstein Palliative Hospice and the  Sunflower fund. All entrants will receive some Fairview cheese, a bottle of La Capra wine,  a discount voucher and a Sunflower Fund BUFF… WILL COME IN HANDY AS YOU CAN USE IT AS A MASK.

Please note that this is not a race. It is a social day out in nature to a Wine Estate where you are allowed to run and walk.

We provide Holistic Palliative Care to our patients with life threatening or life limiting illness and support quality in life and dignity in death.

Our professional care teams provide; Medical care, Psychosocial care and Physical care all within a Home based care environment to an average of 250 patients per month.

Drakenstein Palliative Hospice was started by volunteers in 1991 and has grown into an organisation that provides care to patients from Simondium to Saron including the surrounding farms, we also assist patients in Malmesbury as needed.

As another of our services we opened a community resource centre for vulnerable children within the Paarl area, Butterfly House. We believe that to nurture a child, you need to do so holistically; by providing a safe space, nutritious meals, structure, educational and emotional support. We have 300 children, from ages 2 to 18, registered on our regular programs

Due to COVID-19 we started a temporary food provision program, for children in the Fairyland community. We provided breakfast and a cooked lunch during the week. During lock down levels 5 to 3, we were serving over 700 meals a day.

Because of the extra expenses we incurred during this time Drakenstein Palliative Hospice is in need of financial assistance to help cover our monthly expenses to allow us to continue our work within the community.
